- animal skin parchment
- 23K gold leaf
- 23K shell gold
- egg tempera paint made from dry pigment, egg yolk, and distilled water
- semi-opaque paint made by combining watercolour and gouache paints
- various mordants: gum ammoniac, garlic juice, gesso, Kölner Miniatum
- ink
- agate and hematite burnishers
